Sea Kayaking at Marino Ballena National Park

This tour combines an ocean paddle, snorkeling, walk on the Whale’s Tail, kayak wave riding and a small mangrove estuary hike. The tour starts out through small waves into the Bay of Punta Uvita.  After an ocean paddle out to the reef at the Whale’s Tail, you will snorkel there. The guide will lead you along the reef, showing you some great underwater sea life.  After you are done snorkeling, you will paddle over to the Whale’s Tail to take a break and see the glorious views.  You then paddle back to the beach and learn how to surf a wave into shore with the kayak. Once on the beach you will take a beautiful, short hike into a gorgeous mangrove forest to learn all about this incredible ecosystem.

Sea Kayaking at Playa Ventanas (Waves and Caves)

You will get the opportunity to paddle on the turquoise waters to see the amazing caves and natural arch formations that appears along the lush, mountainous coastline of Ventanas Beach. If the wave conditions allow, your group will try to pass through a cave or two. The guides will teach you about the different names of the caves and stories behind them. After exploring the two caves on Ventanas Beach you will enjoy a little wave surfing with the kayaks.

Due to the intense current of the Terraba river this tour is only available from December 1st – August 31st. This tour is very affected by the waves, so an intermediate or advance paddler level is required.

Kayaking at Matapalo Mangroves
